While Candy is on vacation in Maine, I wanted to do a Tuesday Two Hundred that hearkens to the lovely southern coast of our northernmost state. This adorable traditional in Sparkman Club Estates fits the bill. It’s the cedar shake siding, the shutters and fabulous details that make this home feel like a vacation.

With more than 2,700 square feet, four bedrooms, two full and two half baths, this house has plenty of room for a family who wants to live in a community with great amenities. Considering the home’s address — 3326 Merrell Road — it is extremely accessible to the rest of the Preston Hollow area, as well as downtown, which is less than 15 minutes away.

This home has been renovated, too, with new surfaces in the kitchen and master bath, as well as fresh paint and gorgeous hardwood floors. The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances and a tile backsplash, and is open to both a breakfast area and family room.

The master suite is downstairs, and is a cozy 15 x 17. It’s a decent size for a king-sized bed and perhaps an armchair, but not quite large enough for a true “retreat” I suppose. Still, I love that the master suite is on the first floor and the other three bedrooms are upstairs.

The master bath, well, we can’t tell much about it from this photo, which only shows that there are two vanities separated by a wall. There are granite counters and fresh tile, but the cabinetry is a hold-over, and the vanity lights feel a little dated.

The backyard is an excellent size, though, for gardeners and kids who need a bit of lawn for tossing a ball around. Just imagine having some cold iced tea while your oldest practices kicking goals into a net in the backyard. Relaxing, huh?

And this dream of a house is an affordable one, priced at a recently reduced $294,000. What do you think?
