979 Rustic Front

This house kills me dead! I am already fond of Russell Buchanan‘s work. He’s the award-winning architect behind the Mockingbird Lane box house we reported on last week. If you weren’t bowled right on over by that amazing home, then this one will knock your stinking socks off!

979 Rustic Kitchen

Buchanan is known for his modern architecture, so when I saw that he had completely redesigned and remodeled this Lake Highlands Midcentury Modern, I had to know more. Built in 1954, 979 S. Rustic is the quintessential Mid-Mod layout featuring large windows and open rooms. With Buchanan’s help, this house is so sleek it sings like a crystal wineglass.

979 Rustic Master

Not only is this house fabulous, but the whole cul-de-sac is stacked with gorgeous 50s-era modern homes. It reminds me of Eustis Avenue in Little Forest Hills. This home has a gorgeous new kitchen, a living room and dining room that is perfect for entertaining, a huge new master suite with a gigantic picture window, and the most amazing pool you have ever seen.

979 Rustic Master Bath

Of course, there are just gobs of windows throughout the main living areas, as well as in the four bedrooms. There are three total baths in this home — more than you see in most homes its age — and it’s large enough for a family at 2,126 square feet. And I am just stunned at the price, too — a recently reduced $575,000.

What an incredible home!
