Ski season is winding down, which is a huge bummer for the snow bunnies among us. So if you’re not ready to leave the ski lodge, why not come home to one?

That’s how this Potomac Avenue stunner feels to me. With all of the stone and wood and lush carpets, this house feels like it belongs in Park City, not the Park Cities! And yet, this amazing four-bedroom, four-plus-two bath home in Mount Vernon is right in the thick of the Park Cities honeypot. (However, if you’re still into checking out Park City, head over to SecondShelters to see our Top-5 Park City, Utah, ski homes!)

The listing info for 3848 Potomac was emailed to us and boy, are we glad our fellow real estate lovers sent it along! This home is gorgeous! Built in 1979, this home crosses the threshold into modern eclectic by using so many different textures throughout its 6,463 square feet. There are lovely arched stone passageways throughout, and an amazing herringbone wood ceiling with exposed beams, and the price — only $4.25 million — can’t be beat!

Huge windows and recessed lighting throughout the home keep the stone columns and walls from weighing things down and turning this dramatic house into a dungeon. Still, there is an abundance of wood throughout the home that might be overwhelming for some.

The kitchen, while large, is dated. The tile countertops and wood-grain disposal belie the home’s 1970s heritage. Personally, I’d keep the cabinetry and just replace the counters, backsplash and appliances. From there you’re good to go. Unlike the kitchen, though, the wet bar is fully updated with stainless steel fridge and icemaker and stone counters. Priorities, right?

Sure, the master suite features his-and-her baths, but my favorite part about this home is the beautiful loggia. The curved skylight filters evening light down on the brick sitting area, which looks out onto the modest backyard area. This is what I expect heaven looks like on days with good weather.
