Highland Park Soda Fountain (or Highland Park Pharmacy, if You’re a Parkie) is a Century Old

Share News:

Apparently Highland Park Pharm … I mean Soda Fountain has an impressive list of regulars, which happen to include some folks in the Dallas real estate business.

The Grand Dame of real estate, Ebby Halliday, is known to pop in every once in a while according to this story by Maria Halkias at the DMN. And Barry Hancock, a founding partner of commercial real estate firm Cienda Partners, starts his day off with two poached eggs, bacon, and an english muffin at Highland Park Soda Fountain. Every day.

I wonder: What other real estate agents and brokers frequent Highland Park Soda Fountain? What’s your favorite thing on the menu? (Mine’s the root beer float!)

Fun facts about the Highland Park Pharm … dang it! Soda Fountain:

Despite it’s name, Highland Park Soda Fountain isn’t even in Highland Park! And after giving up selling ‘scripts, you can’t call it a pharmacy anymore, either.

There’s something to be said for longevity, though. When the soda fountain’s current owners, Gretchen Minyard Williams and Sonny Williams, bought the business in 2006 from Thell Bowlin, who owned it since the 1970s.

The building, which is appraised at just over $2 million on DCAD, is owned by the Weir family, which operates nearby Weir Furniture.

Happy birthday to the oldest soda fountain in the Park Cities!
