Thursday Three Hundred, Candy’s Take: A Garage Stall for Every Bedroom In the Heart of Oak Lawn

Share News:

Here is a rare find: a three-level townhouse in the heart of Oak Lawn with a PRIVATE three-car garage. There’s almost more parking here than there is in all of downtown Dallas. 4108 Douglas is centrally located —  you’ve got the commercial amenities of Oak Lawn, Highland Park Village to the north, Downtown Dallas to the south. So, I don’t have to argue with you about location. Of course, in this part of town, you are sort of a hybrid — you walk AND you drive. In fact, you will walk right up the stairs in this 1,996 square foot honey peach because it is a three level townhouse guaranteeing buns of steel: don’t bother bringing your stairmaster! You get three bedrooms and two are master en suite bathroom deals, for a total of three full baths. Look at that gleaming, updated kitchen — 2011 renovations on this circa 1986 townhome include super green bamboo hardwood flooring, other refinished hardwoods, new kitchen tile backsplash, cabinetry, those gleaming stainless appliances, a new hot water heater and security system so you can relax on the rear deck with its new trellis and ceiling fan system. How about $315,000 for the total package?

I used to own the one on the corner 4102. Same floor plan except I put in a floor to ceiling glass window on the top floor. It had an unobstructed view off all of uptown and downtown Dallas. I loved that place. As soon as I got married my wife said "no more bachelor pad" 🙁 That location is great, I loved everything about living there.

Ah, that famous building. Built in the 80s by Bradley Bayoud and originally painted lavender. I thought, back then, that this was the coolest building ever. Then money ran out, and it sat unfinished for a while until late 80s (?). Have always wanted to see inside this place.

    Candy and Paul…
Paul has a better memory that I do! I don't remember that Bradley built these. I do think that I remember that they were designed by a firm out of Florida..and correct…they were painted from deep lavender down to a very pale lavender. They were very, very high style for Dallas at the time and (very avantguarde) came on the market at the "other" recession!
    Cheers! Jack and George

      Jack is absolutely correct.
They were designed by Miami based Arquitectonica – a firm recognized worldwide.
The funny thing is that they were so avant-garde at the time, as Jack mentioned, that these units do NOT feel "dated" even in 2012 !!! That's good design.
