Tell Me Your Real Estate Story: Jamie Laubhan-Oliver’s Cedars Townhouse is Straight Out of a Catalog

Share News:

Jamie Laubhan-Oliver is a very stylish girl. She’s got more shares on houzz than bathrooms in Champ d’Or. And seriously? Her own post on styleswoon? The girl can decorate (and I hear her husband helps!). Seriously, it’s like I walked into catalog living!

So it’s no shock that Laubhan-Oliver’s lovely Cedars abode at 1813 Ervay St. was snapped up. Since their townhouse sold (thanks Clay Stapp Realtor Subhi Garbieh!), Jamie and her husband are renting downtown in the meantime while they search high and low in Oak Cliff for their next project. Why are you moving?
We were tapped out in our house. We were done with projects, there wasn’t much else we could do. We turned our little square box townhouse into a masterpiece that is still all over the internet. It was featured in two magazine and is constantly featured on blogs. We are ready to move on to bigger and better. More space. More rooms to decorate. And more lawn to landscape. And… more dinner parties.

How long was was your home on the market?
It was on the market a little under 6 months. Because of the neighborhood it took finding a special buyer. We knew the buyer would either be a young couple with no kids or a single businessman. It isn’t the neighborhood that would attract a single female or family.

Did you stage it or do anything special?
Our house was constantly staged (as we lived in it). I prefer to live like a magazine photoshoot. We didn’t change a thing. But if we had needed to, we would have 100% staged it.

What are your best marketing tricks?
We used a lot of word of mouth on Facebook and the Internet … And we offered a couple pieces of our furniture with the house. Most potential buyers wanted our house as is with all of our belongings.

What shocked you about the sales process?
How easy it actually all is. It’s much easier to sell than it is to buy. One day the guy said he wanted it and the next week we started packing.

Where are you moving?
Right now we are living in a loft downtown looking for the perfect house. We rushed into our little townhouse and while we loved it, we want to make sure we find the perfect house this time. We are currently looking in the Oak Cliff area.

If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?
I would ask for more heads up before showings. Having animals made it difficult to get home within the hour for each showing appointment.
