Thursday Three Hundred: Nothing is More Classy Than This Updated Tudor With a Finished Basement Apartment!

Share News:

This home, 6802 Hammond Ave., is so tremendously exciting to me because it is one of a very, VERY rare breed in Dallas — a home with a finished basement. This is another gem inside the Hollywood-Santa Monica neighborhood of East Dallas, which feeds into Lakewood schools (Lakewood Elementary, Woodrow Wilson High School) is an incredible community.

The home, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom Tudor, includes more than 1,800 square feet of fully restored and renovated space. Everything is sleek, neutral, and gorgeous on the inside, and the exterior, with the ivy climbing over the gray painted brick, is just as charming. I bet this home gets a lot of “ooohs” and “ahhhs” by families walking through the friendly neighborhood. And the price —$399,900 — is great for all of the usable space you’re getting.

One of my favorite things about this house, other than the exquisite finished basement, is how the kitchen blends seamlessly with the dining area. That’s perfect for families with children, especially those who need a place to do homework while mom (or dad!) make dinner.

The bedrooms are pretty typical in size and decoration, and the bathrooms have what you would expect from a remodel in this price range. Everything in this house is super clean and just screams traditional, right down to the wainscoting and color palette.

The basement, though, is all modern. French doors separate the living area from the bedroom and bathroom. While there’s no kitchen downstairs, I’m sure you could make any young college grad comfortable with a microwave and a mini fridge so they can save some money for a downpayment on their own first home!

Is the finished basement included in the 1800 sq. ft total?

Jo is getting it for you. I'll check with the Realtor, but I LOVE that bathroom! And I agree, basements are a rare breed in Dallas but Mark Molthan sure seems to get them in for garages!

The link is added, Stuart! I'll send a note to Meg Skinner, the Realtor for this property.

Another great house in my neighborhood. You just cannot go wrong buying into this 'hood. This is a fantastic home!
Anyone with a teenager will see the value in that basement room!

This home feeds to "Dallas" schools in the Dallas Independent School District, one of the most desired feeder patterns in the district, of Lakewood Elementary, Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School. There is not a "Lakewood" schools district.

Yes, Betsy, that's true. Of course, because Lakewood is inside Dallas, the "Lakewood" schools — Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School, Woodrow Wilson High School — are DISD schools, and Lakewood does not have its own district. Still, because these schools are some of the more desirable inside DISD, I refer to them as the "Lakewood schools" but not as the "Lakewood district."

Should a home priced at $399,900 really be in your Thursday Three Hundred? Let's just call it like it is Candy…otherwise, a great house!

Yeah, that was stretching it maybe. Sorry. Those are tough little guys to find. Feel free to send in suggestions!

Austin, of course, I always figure a buyer will offer 20% below asking or he doesn't have a pulse!
