Richard and Leanne Malouf Are Suing Me, Byron Harris, WFAA-TV, and Luke & Owen Wilson’s Mother, Laura Wilson

Share News:

Well I had an interesting day. Started at the North Dallas MLS Meeting, ended up in court. Seems Dr. Richard Malouf and his wife want a temporary restraining order against me, Byron Harris, WFAA-TV, and Laura Wilson, mother of Owen Wilson, who lives next door to Richard and Leanne. That’s right, they are suing their next-door neighbor. This is all public record, and I have to be in court at 8:30 a.m. so happy reading — oh the part about climbing on Mrs. Wilson’s roof and the camera in the closet, to quote a dear friend of mine: You just can’t make this *%#$@! up!

Well, actually, I guess you CAN!

While the document is an entertaining read, I doubt it will do much of anything other than give folks something to scratch their heads about.

It certainly is taking quite awhile for the FEDS to take down the Malouf practice. This must be the same group building the John Wiley case.
I guess we will just have to wait until after the election.

I love reading your blog and find you to be entertaining, but you are completely out of bounds here. If half of what is in the complaint is true I would be beyond pissed as well. Dr. Malouf might be a jerk, but he bought that property, it is his property and until the feds come and take it from him, you need to stop harassing him. You label this escapade as entertainment solely because of the size of his bank account. If you did the same thing to a fixed income retiree you would be labeled a monster, and rightly so. Stick to what you know and let the feds deal with Dr. Malouf, you are way out of your league and turning off a huge demographic that reads your blog.

Nick – take a chill pill! You are already accusing her of harassing him and assuming everything in this piece of fiction called a TRO is true. It's so easy to get a temporary restraining order in this town for foolish and pretty much made up things.

@Nick: That's just the thing — a lot, if not almost all, of the claims in this suit are fabricated. Candy is one of the most kind and upstanding people I know (I wouldn't work with anyone less than honorable), and this filing is just laughable in its mangling of the truth.

@joanna – I think it is admirable that you are sticking up for Candy. That says a lot about your character and Candy's as well. With that said, just the pictures that I have seen on this blog boarder on harassment. If someone had built a beautiful house or is trying to sell one and they want Candy to profile great, have at it. But clearly Dr. Malouf wants his privacy given his statements and signs posted at the property and Candy should give him his privacy. You have a great and unique product in this blog and this "investigation" is doing nothing to enhance your product. If Dr. Malouf has something to hide, the federal government, with their virtually unlimited resources, will get to the bottom of this and then you can profile the forced auction of his house.

Nick I second Joanna's comments. I've known Candy for 30 years and would not contribute to the blog if she were not one of the most honorable, ethical and moral people I've ever met. Mr. Malouf is creating news . Real estate news. Candy is reporting it. Period. By building something that rivals a commercial water park in his back yard he is going to attract attention. This is news on many levels. When a homeowner pours money into their home in a visible way, it raises the property values around them. This affects the neighbors and their property. It creates interest and that interest in turn creates questions, quite naturally in other areas. His business practices are public record. People who live in "glass houses" will be looked at, photographed and talked about.

By the way point 9 on the complaint is not true. Candy does not work for Belo and is not paid by them. Her content is "shared" in Pegasus. She is not paid by Pegasus for the content share. One has to wonder what the Mr. Malouf hopes to gain from "stirring it up". The smart thing is to throw open the gates, invite the press inside, all of them, and then throw a party and invite the neighbors. If you have nothing to hide then why try to hide it?

We love real estate news in Dallas . This whole water park is lovely wretched excess, just the sort that creators of television shows love! I mean you cannot make this stuff up. It's Dallas and we do it better and bigger AND we talk about it! Candy is the best thing to have happened to real estate in this town. She is funny, charming, smart and I repeat, ethical.

    Candy,
I know your job is to cover real estate happenings, etc, however, you HAVE reported the water park, the mansion, bla, bla, bla……so Why don't you move on? You have taken pictures, pretty much stalked them on a daily basis, NO WONDER they are suing you!!!!

You continue to beg for an interview with the Maloufs and beg for a "tour" of the property and the water park .(that you will NEVER get, by the way) ….WHY????? What is your big fascination with Leanne and Richard? You have NO connection to them WHATSOEVER! You have taken this to a new level and crossed the line of " "reporting real estate."

Your husband HAS to be embarrassed by you behaving the way that you have concerning the Maloufs' so much that it has now got you into a lawsuit!

Dr Malouf has NEVER been charged with a crime NOR is he under ANY type of CRIMINAL investigation! The Feds prosecute people all the time for medicade fraud and IF the US Attorney's office had ANYTHING on them, they would have been prosecuted YEARS ago! You and Byron Harris are the ones "investigating" them! Y'all are both obsessed and have NO shame and don't know when to draw the line.

I'm SURE you will NOT post this blog, just like you haven't posted ANY positive comments or any posts SUPPORTING the Maloufs!

You used to be interesting to watch and follow, but I have a total different opinion of you now. You're viewed as a crazy lady that has partnered with Byron Harris that sits outside the Maloufs gates desperate for a glimpse or photo acting like Richard is the POPE !!!!
Think about it! You're putting your reputation on the line for WHAT??? Pictures of a water park??? REALLY???

I bet your husband is really proud around the hospital these days!

    Kudos to you Candy!

I would not want a water park in my neighbor's yard if I owned a beautiful home on Strait Lane. Did they get permits from the City to construct such an eye sore? This is Dallas, not Houston where there are no zoning laws. If Laura Wilson planned to sell her property, it would make you wonder if the prospective Buyer would not buy due to the neighbor's brightly colored water park peering into the backyard. From the pictures, it looks to be taller than the brick fence and you can see it. I would go after the City of Dallas for allowing a permit to build that in a residential area.

Wow I'm just shocked by some of the reactions here. I can say for a fact, Candy has not stalked anyone. She is far to busy to do that. And I've never seen her beg, except maybe for chocolate : )
It's news.Period. The mere fact that there are 25 responses on this blog alone, indicates the level of interest. I have to say if his kids are out there " playing in the yard" during construction I'd be surprised. So some will enjoy the news, some won't, but the people that create the news will be written about until they stop creating news or until something knocks this particular story to the bottom rung of the interest ladder. That's the nature of the business.

Dear Senrac, did I meet you at the Courthouse the other day? This convo sounds awfully familiar. One, I have only deleted comments that are extremely nasty towards the Maloufs, not me. And there have been quite a few. Two, most doctors are DISGUSTED by abuse of Medicaid funds, whether legal or not, because it has cut them out of the system and from doing what they were trained to do: treat patients. Three, stalking? Only thing I stalk is a computer.

I know they do not like this forum. Hence the TRO to shut me up.

Really: do I look like the kind of girl who camps with mosquitos?

    • Senrac on October 18, 2012 at 1:38 pm

      Candy,
No, we did not meet at the courthouse. If the doctors are so disgusted, it would appear they are intelligent enough to understand that legislation is the problem, not individual dentists that bill for ALLOWABLE. EXPENSES! Why don't you and Byron spend all this time and energy at state representatives or senators homes pushing for legislation reform? Exposing Richards water park is NOT going to change the laws for Medicaid so your wasting your time!

It doesn't matter what you "look like." What matters is how you conduct yourself! Why do you repeatetively come to their property, or on neighbors roofs, or stand on the public road, two feet from their yard if you're not harassing them? Those things sound virtually impossible to do from your computer!

You are a wife and a Mother? Surely there is SOMETHING inside of you that can relate to how this would feel if Strangers were waiting at YOUR home, taking pictures of YOU and camped out spying YOUR family??

It's not even like you can chalk it up for a good cause…..like trying to remove a sex offender from the neighborhood, or get a drug dealer out. YOUR goal is to see a damn water park!

Congratulations, Candy, and keep up the good work. You and Byron wouldn't be getting this reaction from Malouf if you hadn't hit the mark.

I'm still laughing at Tim Rogers' desperate attempt to mine some relevance for D Magazine ("Candy used to work for us, and I can spell Strait Lane") out of your hard work while adroitly singling you out from the rest of the defendants in order to cloak his thinly-veiled schadenfreude over your being sued in the special back-handed faux concern D typically reserves for ex-employees and interviewees with no more perceived value. Poor Tim, clearly in a former life he was one of those miniature dogs which lurk under the settees of the wealthy and dart out to bite guests on the back of the ankle when they're not looking. Wick was really fortunate to find him in human form.

You put your war face on, Candy, and don't let any nay-sayer get you down. Malouf is the type of roach which ruins health care for everyone, most especially the poor, and he deserves to be taken down as hard and as fast as possible. Too bad D Magazine didn't have the courage to do it themselves.

  63. […] Candy Evans just got herself some more material to write about. But it’ll cost her. Evans, as you might know, once covered real estate for D Magazine and D Home. While working for us, she was the first one to learn the location of President George W. Bush’s pad. She’s dogged when it comes to tracking down real estate rumors and news. Lately, she has focused that doggedness on Richard Malouf’s house on Strait Lane. It’s big. He’s building a water park in his backyard. And Malouf has been the subject of media scrutiny for his high-flying lifestyle and the way his dental clinics conducted their business. […]

@Senrac: I hear what you are saying, and I think you have some great points — especially when it comes to legislation. Hopefully you have read my posts concerning this. But the most important point is for you to know that just because someone, in this case Dr. and Mrs. Malouf, said I did something does not make it the truth. I did not climb the neighbor's roof, trespass past private gates, use zoom lenses, bribe anybody, invade a child's birthday party, lay in wait for anyone, none of it. NONE!

The fraud is awful in those dental practices from what I have read and takes away resources from the programs serving those most in need. The investigators need to act and fix these issues. Thanks for shedding light on these issues.

Keep up the good work. This dentist is a disgusting human being, as are his lawyers. Classic "lawsuit abuse" if you ask me. The courts have better things to do. Calling the trash "trash" is not slander.

This could all be solved if everyone got together at Laura Wilson's home and had a Wes Anderson film festival featuring all of his movies starring Owen and Luke. You can't be mad watching one of those movies.

Hmmm…Sounds like someone needs to pull up their pants from around their ankles, put the ruler away, and man-up to the hand they were delt. Wiener envy will eventually ruin the rest of their life. I can now understand why dentists have one of the heighest suicide rates – hated by 90% of the population in addition to having their own severe inadequacy issues just exponentially compound the problem.

Steel is suing the media queen for $500,000 in damage to his once pristine (he says, I hope she took photos) Chelsea condo. He says she gouged nearly all the walls in the $32,000 a month sub-rental. He said she scratched the wood floors, and stained the guest bathroom during the nearly two years she was a renter. I hope HE took photos. Just because he says she did this, even filed the lawsuit, doesn’t mean it’s true, of course, as I know too well. […]
