It’s that time of the year when we wonder why we have pools. Because, right about now, they are all like bathtubs.
I’m not a cold water gal. I actually LIKE my pool in May, June and July when I can just walk right in without a “period of adjustment”. But come August, it seems the pool is only a few degrees cooler than the air and hardly worth getting my hair wet. It must be about 90 degrees.
So it’s really hot. And if you want to teach tennis, you have to either get on this air- conditioned court inside the $10 million dollar plus house of Veruschka and Thomas Dundon overlooking Northwest Highway, or get on the court really, really early. I’ve got this great tennis coach who seeks a private court to teach lessons on. Here’s the deal: he’ll pay a homeowner up to $100 a month for the use of their court when they are not using it. And he’ll offer discounted lessons to the whole darn family — free to the kiddos. Pretty good deal, no? He even carries his own insurance. I see 3 tennis courts around me every day that are never used. So how about it, homeowners with private courts: turn that tennis court into a piggy bank!
