The Medicaid nukes are coming to town from Washington, D.C. to infuse more power into Greg Abbot’s investigation of dental Medicaid fraud, the kind that Byron Harris has brought to the radar. He and other whistleblowers say abusing Medicaid reimbursements helped pediatric dentists like Richard Malouf roll in billions and build enormous homes, buy second and third homes, build backyard waterparks and live amazingly lavish lifestyles on the tab of U.S. taxpayers. Malouf may be crazy enough to build a water park in his back yard on Strait, but there are other guys just like him in humungo homes paid for with dental Medicaid funds that may be perfectly legit… or may not be.
Yep, and it’s just a matter of time before Huffington picks it up. I’ve got so much more to add to this story, and so much more is yet to come! For now, whet… or shall I say, WET… your appetite!

You just might want to tune into WFAA-TV Channel 8 tonight to see how we got “hosed” by the gardeners over at Dr. Richard Malouf’s house, and more, way more. Like, I have to keep my lips sealed until 10 but you are going to LOVE this report. And I have a teeny tiny sound bite in tonight’s story. I’m actually headed over to a party on the other end of Strait Lane right now… Brint Ryan’s house…but I’m prepared: have a shower cap packed in my pocket.
No handcuffs yet, I’m still able to blog. While I was touring a gorgeous home in Kessler today, noonish, another Dan Nelson treasure (stay tuned, stay very tuned), Robert Wilonsky at the Dallas Morning News emails me that I’m in trouble: Richard Malouf filed a complaint against me with the Dallas Police Department. Read this all quickly on my iphone and called Robert, per his request, to do some ‘splaining. (No doubt my husband will be wanting some next.) It seems Richard Malouf is not happy that I took some photos of his front yard lined with the future components of his Water World. And he claims that I entered his construction gates to do so:

“Texas Drills Down on Medicaid Dental Fraud” (sub. rec.) is the headline in today’s Wall Street Journal. What do they mean by that? Why, maybe a blast from the past biz practices of people like Richard Malouf who is putting in a WaterPark that one reader thinks we ought to christen “WaterPik Park” over on Strait Lane. His gates were wide open on Sunday as trucks heaved in the equipment which is now sitting right in the front yard of what was once 10711 Strait Lane.
Richard Malouf, the Medicaid-pediatric-dentist-turned-billionaire, is back in the news. In late June, Byron Harris at Channel 8 reported that his aggressive, year-long investigation on WFAA into questionable Medicaid dental payments at Malouf’s pediatric dental clinics– Texas spent more on pediatric Medicaid braces than the rest of the country put together — stirred up the Texas AG, Gred Abbott, to file a lawsuit against Malouf. And Abbott now has at his side some whistle-blowers, including a DDS who worked for Malouf. Word on the street is that the AG is going after $30 million — ouch! This is not coming at a very convenient time because Dr. Malouf is still finishing up his mega mega ENVIRONMENT over there on Strait Lane, right across from Phil Romano.
Champ d’Or is sold and Richard Malouf is getting 30,000-plus square feet, so mega square footage must be back in style. More proof that big is back when it comes to the uber rich building homes in Dallas real estate. And if you cannot find a lot big enough for your dream mansion, you just buy several and tear down whatever the hec is on them. Voila, dream compound!Readers have been emailing me, asking me who is building what appears to be a compound of homes on Walnut Hill Lane, Old Preston Hollow, south side between Hollow Way and Meadowbrook.
