High Rise Living: How To Make a Roof-Top Potty for the Pups

See that little green landing pad (behind the post)? It’s a doggie pee and poop pad for high rise dwellers. No kidding! Located on a ninth floor balcony at The Ritz Residences, Lamberts installed green turf over a drainage system. They rinse it thoroughly once a week and poof, you never have to put on your make-up (or clothes) again to take Spot down to do his or her duty.

Brilliant. Can’t wait to show you this place!

Having that connected to a drain is the key.
My Mom and stepdad Bob used to live on the 8th floor in a high rise in Abu Dhabi and had a teacup poodle. They had two balconies and one was off their bedroom that was enclosed for privacy. At first they had a patch of grass that was given to them for her "potty" but obviously, that didn’t last. When they would go out to the dunes, Molly learned to go in the sand. So they built a little sand box on their balcony and it was easy maintenance and cleanup.
