Friday Five Hundred: This Perry Heights Three Bedroom Will Sweep You Off Your Feet

Share News:

I was just cruising MLS, minding my own business, and BAM … I ran into 4303 Rawlins, a listing from the adorable Jory Walker of Coldwell Banker Apex Realtors, and my search was over. I had to show you, dear readers, just how gorgeous this home is.

I’ve told you how I feel about Tudors. Folks, this is the Anti-Tudor. This is the Tudor to end all Tudors. This Tudor will knock your socks off, sweep you off your feet, and light a fire in your escrow account.

First, let’s just point out that in Perry Heights, this home has all the location it’s ever going to need. Just beyond the living room’s Rookwood fireplace is Uptown. You’re practically right next door to all the culture, nightlife, and shopping of Oak Lawn, too. Heck, you’re within walking distance of Highland Park!

Second, it’s completely remodeled. You don’t have to do a thing to it, and you don’t have to wait for someone to move out, either. You close in a couple of weeks, you move in THAT VERY DAY.

Now, not many homes look great when empty. They tend to look lonely and sad. This house, however, seems to glow. Every room is unencumbered with possessions — no couches or art that you might dislike and be unable to look past — just yards and yards of gorgeous, dark hardwoods traced with bright white trim and capped with immaculate wainscoting.

I feel like I’m writing “Fifty Shades of Grey Interior Enamel!”

Seriously, though, the kitchen, with that cool textured backsplash and gorgeous cabinets, has plenty of room. And you get to pick your fridge, too!

Now, upstairs, the master bedroom has this great little nook where I imagine I’d put my reading chair and ottoman. You know, the comfy one that usually has five or six blankets draped over its back.

Of course, I could always read my book in that AMAZING CLAW FOOT TUB! Man, I love a good freestanding tub, and this one does not disappoint! It even has a hand-shower!

Now, my husband is a shower guy, so he’d love this double shower system. Me? I think it looks a little complicated for my tastes.

Let’s say I want a good view with my book and my coffee (or wine!). I can head down to my cushy daybed in the amazing sunroom, which has the most beautiful arched windows and slate floor!

From there I’d have a great view of the backyard, which is … well, it’s empty. But it doesn’t have to be that way for long. Included in the price of the home is the owner’s custom pool build, so you will have a place to cool of next summer, at least.

Let’s talk numbers: With 4303 Rawlings you get 2,703 square feet of a fully renovated, top-shelf 1925 Tudor with three bedrooms and three baths and ample living space all for $599,000.

Where do I sign?

It is a great home no doubt. Unfotunately, Perry Heights is getting worse in many ways not only by robberies occurring, but more importantly the NOISE. Having lived there at one point we sold two years ago and bought in the Disney Streets. Our friends want to sell, but haven't made the leap yet. We were over there in May and grilled burgers and tried to eat outside. There is only so many planes coming in that one can tolerate without going bonkers! There are better locations on the market without the noise factor.

Well Scott, show me one place downtown or near downtown that is NOT noisy. Urban waterfall, as Candy says. Comparing Disney to Perry is apples to oranges bro.

Stunning inside! I love the sun room with all the beautiful windows and the built-ins for lots and lots of books. A great book nook no matter what the weather is like outside.
As for the noise factor, I can say from our own personal experience you don't even notice it after awhile. During the rest of the year we live out of state in a rural area, but for about 10 weeks in the winter time, we are in an apt building in Uptown where the SW Airline planes are literally flying overhead. After the second or third day, even the kids don't notice it.

We are house hunting and we looked at this home. While it looks open and airy online, it is very choppy on the inside, almost shockingly so. We were convinced (by the location and exterior) it was THE home for us, and honestly it didn't even end up in our top 3. There is another house in Perry Heights (on N Hall) that didn't wow us online but it is just perfect in person.
